The anti-biotic menace…how bad is it….

….well, bad enough that the government finally recognizes it.  The Center for Disease Control now recommends you stay away from meat raised with antibiotics, but of course you can’t……if you shop at the supermarket or even the few butcher shops remaining.

Of course, in the Alice-in-Wonderland world of our food supply, while the CDC says stay away from meat laced with antibiotics….the USDA labels are still slapped on everything proclaiming it’s safe to eat.

The problem is almost all the meat in this country is raised with the stuff, the animals are in such close quarters they’d die without it, and it also helps fatten them more quickly.  Pork is a particularly problem.

What happens, in a nutshell, is when you get sick the drugs don’t work.  And the fact is about 80% of the antibiotics used in this country are used in farming.  It’s in your food and in your body. The only safe answer is to know your farmer.

Thistle Hill pigs never receive anything but grass and corn that has not been genetically-modified.  Our cows are raised just on grass and organic minerals.

Here’s a recent article on the subject.  Please read it all the way through….at least down far enough for the warnings and advice on what to do.

And yes, while we’re out of beef, we do have a limited supply of pork available.

Antibiotics and GMO corn, what a good combination to ruin your health. Interesting around my part of the world, SE Indiana, row crop land sells for $8000 / acre, but with corn at $4.50 , many a buyer at $8,000 will not be able to make it, and my banker says many are in deep trouble.
