{"id":882,"date":"2012-06-12T06:42:46","date_gmt":"2012-06-12T10:42:46","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.thistlehill.net\/wpblog\/?p=882"},"modified":"2012-06-12T06:42:46","modified_gmt":"2012-06-12T10:42:46","slug":"the-agony-of-being-sold-out","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.thistlehill.net\/wpblog\/the-agony-of-being-sold-out\/","title":{"rendered":"The agony of being &#8220;sold out&#8221;&#8230;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>We finally had some beef to sell last week&#8230;briefly.\u00a0 We put an announcement out to our email list Friday afternoon that we were taking orders and, again, in less than two hours the meat was spoken for.<\/p>\n<p>That response is always gratifying.\u00a0 We do think Devon beef is something special but it&#8217;s good to get the reinforcement.\u00a0 As you know, we&#8217;re primarily developing seed stock here for other farmers but, since meat is always the &#8220;bottom line&#8221;, we do maintain a limited list of meat customers to check on how we&#8217;re doing.<\/p>\n<p>This time, though, there was a glitch&#8230;the computer <em>Send<\/em> function went down but the orders kept coming in and we couldn&#8217;t get to the list to announce we had nothing left.\u00a0 Worse, we couldn&#8217;t respond and apologize to those who were too late.<\/p>\n<p>That&#8217;s been remedied now and hopefully we won&#8217;t have the same thing happen again.<\/p>\n<p>We have taken two steps to ease the problem.\u00a0 First, instead of &#8220;first come, first served&#8221; we have decided we&#8217;ll take advance\u00a0reservations for meat.\u00a0 That way, you can go on vacation or read a book and not worry you&#8217;re missing a sale.\u00a0 So if you want meat set aside, email us.\u00a0 And email us, too, if you just want to be on the general list to be notified whenever beef or pork is available.<\/p>\n<p>Second, and this is a longer range but better &#8220;fix&#8221;: we have ramped up our production of steers.\u00a0 That began more than a year ago and we are now\u00a0expect to\u00a0offer\u00a0beef every month.\u00a0 So you can look for an announcement right about July 1st.\u00a0 (Pork should be available then, too, but we won&#8217;t have that every month.)<\/p>\n<p>As I said, we enjoy producing meat that is not only good for all of us, but good-tasting, too.\u00a0 Thank you again for your support.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>We finally had some beef to sell last week&#8230;briefly.\u00a0 We put an announcement out to our email list Friday afternoon that we were taking orders and, again, in less than two hours the meat was spoken for.
