{"id":2906,"date":"2013-11-20T16:25:44","date_gmt":"2013-11-20T21:25:44","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.thistlehill.net\/wpblog\/?p=2906"},"modified":"2013-11-22T12:55:58","modified_gmt":"2013-11-22T17:55:58","slug":"tilbrook-cashtiller-r-p","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.thistlehill.net\/wpblog\/tilbrook-cashtiller-r-p\/","title":{"rendered":"Tilbrook Cashtiller, R.I.P&#8230;.."},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The great English champion <em>Tilbrook Cashtiller<\/em> has been put down.\u00a0 She was the prettiest cow I have ever seen.<\/p>\n<p><em>Cashtiller<\/em> campaigned in British shows for several years and was never beaten.\u00a0 A great moment came at a Royal Cornwall show where she was named not only champion cow but Grand Champion.\u00a0 Her ribbons, silver trophies and\u00a0 plates could fill a room at owner Gavin Hunter&#8217;s home&#8230;.and do.<\/p>\n<p>When the partners of Traditional Devon America saw <em>Cashtiller<\/em> first in 2010, they nervously broached the subject of flushing her for embryos&#8230;.but Gavin quickly and generously agreed.\u00a0 &#8220;<em>Cash<\/em>&#8221; more than cooperated, providing us with 25 embryos.\u00a0 Right now we have 7 of her progeny on the ground, three more on the way and eight embryos awaiting implant.<\/p>\n<p>She was 11 years old and never lost her figure.\u00a0 This was <em>Cashtiller<\/em> at an early triumph.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.thistlehill.net\/wpblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/11\/100_0520.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter  wp-image-2907\" alt=\"100_0520\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thistlehill.net\/wpblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/11\/100_0520.jpg\" width=\"500\" height=\"333\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.thistlehill.net\/wpblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/11\/100_0520.jpg 800w, http:\/\/www.thistlehill.net\/wpblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/11\/100_0520-300x199.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>And there&#8217;s a &#8220;back story&#8221; in the picture.\u00a0 The judge with the steely eye is our dear friend, Ivan Rowe of Cornwall.\u00a0 Ivan and Gavin Hunter are from different generations, different parts of England\u00a0and with\u00a0different approaches to breeding.\u00a0 But it was Ivan, the judge, who gave the &#8220;winner&#8217;s\u00a0slap&#8221; to <em>Cashtiller<\/em> and sent her on her way to an unbroken string of championships.<\/p>\n<p>Nothing makes me happier than having brought these two great English breeders together under the Traditional Devon America tent.\u00a0 We can&#8217;t wait to see them both in England again this Spring.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The great English champion Tilbrook Cashtiller has been put down.\u00a0 She was the prettiest cow I have ever seen.
