The boards of directors of the\u00a0major Devon organizations in the United States have now voted, in principal, to a merger of the two associations.\u00a0\u00a0 While the proverbial “devil is in the details”, this is the first time after two years of flirting, that a date for the marriage\u00a0has been set.<\/p>\n
The expectation is that the final agreement will come at a joint membership meeting of ADCA and NADA in North Carolina September 26th-28th.<\/p>\n
NADA split off from ADCA six years ago in a bitter dispute over then-president Gearld Fry’s plans to enlarge the board and change some of its officers.\u00a0 He left ADCA and established the North American Devon Association, which rapidly overtook and then passed ADCA in both membership and funding.<\/p>\n
Busy with their political wars, neither association was particularly effective in promoting the Devon breed.<\/p>\n
In recent years, under ADCA’s Jeremy Engh, the balance between\u00a0the two groups has been restored and it is on somewhat more equal grounds that they\u00a0 have tentatively moved toward a reconciliation.\u00a0\u00a0 Fry has focused most of his attention on creating what he considers a new breed, American Herbataurus.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
