{"id":1266,"date":"2012-11-22T09:20:00","date_gmt":"2012-11-22T14:20:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.thistlehill.net\/wpblog\/?p=1266"},"modified":"2012-11-22T09:20:00","modified_gmt":"2012-11-22T14:20:00","slug":"well-never-learn","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.thistlehill.net\/wpblog\/well-never-learn\/","title":{"rendered":"We&#8217;ll never learn&#8230;."},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&#8230;or at least the so-called experts never learn.\u00a0 We continue to be surprised by the number of people who tell us they&#8217;ve stopped eating meat for health reasons.\u00a0 Wooz still tries to set the record straight; I&#8217;ve given up.<\/p>\n<p>And these same people, and for health reasons, will go vegetarian, vegan or eat diet foods containing chemicals guaranteed to poison!<\/p>\n<p>We&#8217;re reminded of that by a blurb in Kit Pharo&#8217;s recent newsletter.<\/p>\n<p><em>Imagine you&#8217;ve got a group of men who\u2019ve survived a heart attack. \u00a0They agree to participate in a four-year-long experiment where they\u2019re placed onto one of two diets: Diet One is a \u201cMediterranean Diet\u201d high in fruits, vegetables, legumes, fish, and poultry, along with cholesterol-rich red meat and full-fat dairy products; Diet Two is the \u201cPrudent Diet\u201d recommended by the American Heart Association (and, not coincidentally, by most physicians), focusing on restricting saturated fat intake.
